Saturday Night Update

Cloudy with sunny breaks today with temperatures in the 7*C-8*C range. Winds were light and the Bedford Basin was pretty still.

..It was a wet and stormy night..
An intensifying area of low pressure crossed through New Brunswick
last night and an associated front crossed Nova Scotia through the
night. Most of the mainland of Nova Scotia saw rain from the system
although central and northern areas of the province had a brief bout
of freezing rain at the start early Friday evening. Cape Breton had
A much longer period of freezing rain. In addition an organized line
of thunderstorms crossed much of the mainland overnight with
Digby Yarmouth Shelburne Queens Lunenburg and Halifax counties
Taking the brunt of the thunder and lightning activity and the
associated heavy rains.
The front also brought a mild air mass over southern Nova Scotia
With several locations exceeding 10 degrees overnight. Yarmouth was
the warmest spot in the country on Friday at 11.1 degrees and that
was recorded just before midnight last night.
Wind gusts across the much of the province were in the 50 to 70 km/h
range except in the Cape Breton Highlands where Les Suetes wind
Gusts topped 100 km/h.
